Crests

Crests are items unlockable by binding to the bodies of dead bugs found throughout the kingdom in chapels that not only change the crest slots that you have, but they also change the attack moveset. The basic attacks are a pogo, which is a downward midair attack, a basic slash, an upwards slash, a unique Needle Strike, and a special attack that only plays when you attack while running with Swift Step.

Hunter Crest-The starting crest with a pogo that sends you diagonally in the direction you are moving in, a basic slash that's just a small arc in the direction you are facing. The sprint slash launches you upwards slightly, and the Needle Strike is two slashes back to back. This crest has 2 red, 2 yellow, and 2 blue tool slots, with one silkskill slot. This crest can by upgraded in Weavenest Atla which causes you to fill a focus bar that increases the damage you deal, but the bar will reset when you get hit.

Reaper Crest-A crest found in the Chapel of the Reaper in Greymoor, it has 2 red, yellow, and blue tool slots, and one silkskill slot. It has a slower attack speed, but has wide, arcing slashes that make it really easy to hit. The pogo is a large downward slash. The needle strike is a large slash, and the sprinting strike is an uppercut that launches you up. It has a special ability, in which after binding, attacks spawn small silk balls that can be collected by touching them and makes you get more silk, but goes away after a short time, and if you get hit.

Wanderer Crest-The fastest crest in the game, acquired inside of mosshome in the Chapel of the Wanderer, it has a short attack range, but very low delay in between hits. It has a similar moveset to the Reaper Crest, except that it has a much shorter range and faster hitspeed, and the Needle Strike is a flurry of stabs, and the sprinting strike is similar to the basic attack, except it slightly launches you upwards. It has 1 red tool slots, 2 blue tool slots, and 3 yellow tool slots for mobility and resource gathering. There is a very small chance that when you have a bind's worth of silk, you deal a critical hit, tripling the damage.

Beast Crest-Replaces the basic attacks with claw slashes, including the needle strike. It's found in the Chapel of the Beast, and is guarded by the Savage Beastfly, a widely disliked boss. The pogo is replaced by an attack that moves you to the side a lot, and forces you downward while turning you into a sawblade. It has 2 red and 2 yellow tool slots, with one silk skill slot. It's bind is unique, in that it doesn't give you any innate healing, and instead heals one mask every hit you deal up to three masks, and greatly increases the damage dealt.

Architect Crest-This crest replaces your attacks with a screw that deals small amounts of damage over the duration of the attack, with the pogo being similar to the hunter pogo, except it can be charged for a larger, more damaging attack. It has three red crests, with your silks skill slot being replaced by one, 2 blue and two yellow slots. This crest is intended for use with high damage tools, along with the Pollip Pouch which applies poison to your red tools. It also allows you to repair your tools without a bench by holding up and pressing the bind button, which consumes a bind worth of silk and more shell shards then if you repaired them at a bench like normal. This crest is found in the Chapel of the Architect in the Underworks

Witch Crest-This crest is obtained through the Rite of Rebirth questline, which makes it the hardest crest to obtain, in which your crest is taken over by a parasite which prevents the use of tools, silk skills, and limits your max amount of silk to 3, which prevents you from binding. You then must talk to Yarnaby, obtain needles from Benjin and Crull in Sinner's Road, and go back to change the parasite crest into the Witch Crest. Your basic attacks are turned into the longest slash in the entire game, described as whipping attacks. The pogo is turned into a three-hit combo in which you are invulnerable and invisible. The sprint slash is similar to the pogo in the animation, except unlike most other sprint attacks, it doesn't stop your momentum and you will keep running if you miss the slash. The bind is changed into an attack that sprouts vines from your body which hit enemies, and similar to the Beast Crest, has no innate healing and must hit enemies to heal you. This makes it synergize well with the Injector Band, Multibind, and Claw Mirrors.

Shaman Crest-This crest is reminiscent of the older Zelda games, with every attack throwing out a small projectile, which is as tall as Hornet, except you don't have to be at full health for that to happen. The crest enhances all silk skills, and allows you to equip three, at the cost of no red tool slots. It also doesn't have any yellow slots, and only has 2 blue slots. It's bind is only able to be used on the ground, which severely limits it's use cases, since all other crests' binds can be used midair.

Vesticrests-Small crests obtainable from Eva in Weavenest Atla that gives you an additional yellow and blue tool slot on all crests.
